Times available to practise are:
Monday-Thursday 2.50-3.30
Tuesdays-Wednesday lunchtimes: 12.40-13.10
Wednesdays 8.15-8.30

News this half term


Music homework is starting up again. 
KS3: You will have a written task every half term plus be expected to do 5/10 minutes practical music rehearsal (at school) to revise the practical work you have done.

Year 7 and 8: Spring 1: Blues Music (Homework and practical tasks)

Blues Music!!



Half term homework task: You have two weeks to complete the following research task:


1. Create an A4 research poster (written, NOT Printed unless discussed with Mrs Griffith beforehand) on BLUES MUSIC.  You can choose any aspect of The Blues that interests you.

2. Watch a video and write down TEN FACTS and include (draw or print and cut out) ONE picture on your.

Top tips for a good research task:

1.  Go on www.youtube.com and research videos about Blues music 
e.g.'short history of the blues', 'famous blues artists', 'famous female artists'. 

2. You can choose ANY part of Blues music that interest you. You can choose e.g. ' Instruments of the Blues Band', ''The origin of the blues', 'slavery and the blues',
 'blues and civil rights' or you could choose to focus on a Blues artist. Good examples are 'a short biography about Miles Davis / Robert Johnson/ B.B King/ Mahalia Jackson/Miles Davis/ Bob Dylan/ Janis Joplin/ Elvis Presley.

Prizes!! The 16 best research tasks in each year group will win a lovely Chocolate (what? Yay! :) and will be on the celebration of achievement assembly.

Year 8 Cover Thursday 29th November 2018: Peter and the Wolf test and Carnival of the animals.

Dear year 8. Watch this video, listen CAREFULLY to the orchestral instruments and complete the worksheets your teacher hands to you.

I know you can behave immaculately. Students who caused trouble during these lessons will not be allowed on practical once I return.

For 1 I.D point. Watch the videos carefully and silently, complete the comparative sheets as you go along. Each bit is 30 minutes long, so DO NOT leave it until the videos are done.

For 2 I.D points: complete all worksheets. Ensure you have put your name on the sheet. 

Remember: Pitch: High or low
                    Timbre: Tone colour (what type of instrument? Brass/Woodwind/String etc)

Cover work for year 7: Monday and Tuesday 19th/20th November 2018

Dear year 7. Apologies for being away this week, I had an operation on my hand but will be with you next week to continue your learning on the keyboards.  You will be working on Macs this lesson to complete the listening requirements of your tasks this half-term.

Starter: Sign on to the Macs. You should be working by yourself. Sit in alphabetical order (as you have been seated since the start of the academy year). 

If there is ongoing ICT issues the teacher can show these videos on the screen and the students can complete the worksheets at the desks as they watch both clips.

Year 7 and 8: You will need to prepare to sing 'Something inside so strong' by Labi Siffre. You must learn the lyrics and the tune and be prepared to sing it as a class during music lessons, as well as with the rest of year 7 and 8 as part of the Black History Month Celebrations during the last week of October.

Jazz and Gospel Concert on Wednesday 28th March 2018

Please join us for our first annual Jazz and Gospel Concert on Wednesday 28th March 2018 @ 5pm.

Anyone interested in performing must come and see Mrs. Griffith by Tuesday 20th March as there are still a few performance slots available.
